A warm welcome to LU Open Science Days 2026!
Join us 23rd to 24th of November at the auditorium at the Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL). This lunch-to-lunch conference is open and free for all LU employees and researchers keen to learn about and discuss open science related topics.
In recent years Swedish stakeholders in open science have harmonised goals and priorities related to open science, and these are stipulated in the National guidelines for open science and the Roadmap for Open Science created by the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions. On Open Science Days this year we will therefore try to map out and provide examples of how and what Lund University is doing in relation to these areas.

14:00-14:30: IAC Art Files – A new solution for artistic research data: IAC Art Files is a joint initiative by the Inter Arts Center, the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund University and the Swedish National Data Service (SND), focusing on the management of artistic research data and outputs in relation to the FAIR principles and the requirements for open research. The aim of the project is to create solutions for a domain-oriented, stable and sustainable system for categorising, describing, sharing and displaying artistic research data that is compatible with other systems within the university and SND’s portal researchdata.se. In this session members of the project group will present the project results thus far.

9:00-9:45: Keynotespeaker Gustav Nilsonne, Associate Professor of neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, research data specialist and member of the steering committee of the Swedish CoARA chapter.
9:45-10:30: Research assessment and CoARA
Lund University joined Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) in 2022 and this year an action plan for implementation was approved. During this session we will hear from the COARA project group at LU about their work to allign assessment of research and researchers with the agreement of reforming research assessment.

11:00-11:45: Citizen and participatory science
Citizen science or public engagement in the scientific process and data collection is one way of opening up science, fortifying the bond between society and academia. Participatory research can challenge traditional approaches to knowledge production and enable the collection and preservation of information and knowledge that may be difficult to capture within conventional research settings.
This session will showcase citizen science and participatory research data collection in different contexts.

11:45-12:30: Open access to research data and metadata
Lund Univeristy has strengthening its support for research data management by estabilshing the new unit Research Data Office (LU RDO). Together with the LUCRIS administration this team has developed new solutions and support for LU researchers to make research data and metadata available. This session will feature the lastest developements in this line work.
